This avalanche crown is the result of Jackson Hole Ski Patrol avalanche reduction work on Tuesday, January 24th. A scary reminder of how unstable our snow pack is right now.

RIP Jamie Pierre
Written by admin on November 15, 2011 – 5:42 pm -We are very sad to report that professional freeskier Jamie Pierre of Salt Lake City, UT was killed Sunday October 13th in an avalanche in Little Cottonwood, UT. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jamie's friends and family.
Reportedly, Pierre was snowboarding at the un-open Snowbird Resort when he triggered an avalanche that carried him over a cliff band. A witness said he was not buried.
Jamie was most well known for performing a world record 245 foot cliff jump on skis in the Grand Targhee, WY backcountry that appeared in Warren Miller and Teton Gravity Research ski videos. Click here for a more detailed report.
